i love hairspray, john waters' 1988 version of course. the costumes, the twisted humor, the big ugly hair, ricky lake's roach dress! hard to find pictures from this version, but i found a couple.

duck (duct) tape friday.

First, a bit of an education about duct tape. Yes, the proper name is duct tape, despite the fact that there are multiple types. There's the grey stuff that we all know and love, but there's also the shiny silver stuff that is literally used for ducts. (Hence the name duct tape.) Duct tape is manufactured by Duck products, though. Don't get confused. So... here are some clever uses that I found online.
If anyone ever thinks it's a good idea to bring a girl duct tape flowers, they deserve that punch in the mouth.

In case it's a rainy day, you can just put on your duct tape hat and protect them hurs on your head.

Moving day at the ranch.

Always a good use.

Protecting eyeballs everywhere.

I just can't decide. Clever? Cute? Terrible? Made me throw up in my mouth?

Babysitting at its finest.

I might be a lame-o.

I get excited when new editions of Interior Design magazine find their way into my mailbox... I love seeing some of the newest and greatest things- here are a bit that I've seen from this month's edition.this line of chairs, done by eurotrend, comes in all numbers and a wide variety of finishes. They're just great.


Bench by Vitra. They just can't go wrong. (And while you're checking Vitra products out, take a look at their headquarters... they collect buildings by famous architects like they're collecting stamps.)


this chair is just great. It can be found at property furniture in a few flavors- namely black and white, but my favorite so far is this lime green variety...


duh. table, meet potted plant. potted plant, meet table. Done by moroso.


And lastly, an addendum to my last post about the updated woodsy-feel. this wall covering is FANTASTIC for my friend. Imagine the possibilities of coordinating colors for the other walls in this room.

fall foliage!

one of my good friends just recently bought a house and was having a hard time coming up with some serious ideas. she wanted to have a lodge-at-the-beach kind of feel. here are some images I scrounged up... a good bit of them are from Real Simple.

I love the modern take on the vases in this image...


In LOVE with the idea of using a branch as a place to hang your towels. Also, check out the graphic, modern take on the wallpaper.


Great color palette- this wallpaper is from the lovely Schumacher.


My favorite wall... almost ever. They just cut branches into slices and attached onto a wall- some are longer in order to allow for hanging standard entryway drop-offs.


What a great orange- great contrast with the dark wood on the stair treads and railing.

i'll be honest. i never knew what a "tablescape" was until about 2 months ago. Guess they just don't teach that kind of stuff in school. But I love a little bit of the fantasy mixed with the sparkle mixed with the playful. Here are some good ones I found from various blogs and such-
